A key member of Tangipahoa Parish School Superintendent Melissa Stilley’s administration has been selected for a job within the State Department of Education.
Assistant Superintendent Byron Hurst will be leaving the Tangipahoa Parish School System next month, after being appointed as a role in the LDOE.
Hurst has served in many roles within the Tangipahoa Parish School System during his 10-year career in this parish. He worked in school administration, rising quickly to Central Office where he has served in supervisory positions. Over the last three years, he has served as Assistant Superintendent, overseeing the district’s transportation program, nursing, truancy, and discipline issues.
Hurst will officially take his post with the LDOE on Nov. 1.
Stilley said the district will now begin the process of advertising for a new Assistant Superintendent.
