Britain Sledge, the longtime City Court of Hammond prosecutor and assistant DA, will be a candidate for City Court Judge.
The City Court serves the entire 7th Ward of Tangipahoa Parish including Hammond, Ponchatoula, Pumpkin Center, Baptist, Wadesboro, and Manchac.
The special election will be held on March 26, 2022, to complete the term of the late Judge Grace Bennett Gasaway.
The 41 YO Sledge has been the City Court prosecutor since 2014 and has served as an assistant district attorney since 2007.
A lifelong resident of the 7th Ward of Tangipahoa Parish, Sledge was an honor graduate of Hammond High School before attending Louisiana State University and LSU Law School.
Sledge and his wife, Erika, have been married since 2008 and have two children, Coll, 10, and Everly, 7.
They are members of Holy Ghost Catholic Church.
