Yesterday the Louisiana Department of Health reported 3,058 new #COVID19 cases since Friday.
The majority of these newly reported cases are tied to community spread, rather than congregate settings like nursing homes.
This update reflects increases among all age groups and from all regions. 24% of these newly reported cases were among children under the age of 18. 21% were among 18-29 YO. 55 additional #COVID deaths brought the state’s death toll to 13,796.
Today at 1 p.m., Governor John Bel Edwards and State Health Officer Dr. Joseph Kanter will brief the media about COVID-19 in Louisiana and explain the next steps for the Governor’s current COVID emergency order/mask mandate, which expires on Wednesday. The Governor will also offer updates on Hurricane Ida recovery.
