United Way says one in two households in Southeast Louisiana struggled to make ends meet before COVID-19 hit the region.
Now, following Hurricane Ida, those families and countless more are unable to stabilize their households.
UWSELA aims to provide immediate relief – via feedings, supply giveaways and applications for civil legal aid via Southeast Louisiana Legal Services – to help our region’s most vulnerable families weather the storm. They will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. or until supplies last in Lafourche Parish Lady of Prompt Succor Church at 723 N Bayou Dr. in Golden Meadow. On Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. or until supplies last in Tangipahoa Parish at the First True Love Outreach World Ministries, 41239 Range Rd. in Ponchatoula. On Thursday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. or until supplies last for Lower St. Bernard Parish at the Corner of Shell Beach and Delacroix Hwy. On Friday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. or until supplies last in Jefferson Parish at the Kenner City Park Pavilion at 3800 Loyola Dr. In Orleans Parish at the NOELA Community Health Center at 13085 Chef Menteur Hwy.
Meals will be provided in partnership with locally-owned restaurants.
