On Monday, September 6, 2021, shortly after 10:30 AM, Troopers from State Police Troop L began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on LA Hwy 449, near Self Road, in St. Helena Parish.
The crash claimed the life of 49-year-old Jason Renfrow of Amite.
The initial investigation revealed that Renfrow was southbound on LA Hwy 449 in a 2018 RAM 2500. For reasons still under investigation, the RAM 2500 traveled off the roadway and began to overturn before impacting a utility pole.
Renfrow was properly restrained but sustained fatal injuries during the crash.
He was pronounced deceased on the scene.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a routine toxicology sample was taken from Renfrow for scientific analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
