School Superintendent Melissa Stilley announced this afternoon that all Tangipahoa Parish public schools will be closed on Monday, Aug. 30, due to the forecast approach and landfall of Hurricane Ida in south Louisiana.
The Governor’s office has issued a State of Emergency and Stilley said the district will cancel all classes and extracurricular programs scheduled on school campuses on Monday, Aug. 30.
The district’s 12-month employees will be working Friday evening and over the weekend to secure and prepare schools and office sites for the approaching storm.
The district will continue to monitor the weather and will provide information on reopening as soon as possible.
Stilley said those updates will be posted on the district website at www.TangiSchools.org, and on the TPSS social media channels. She will also share that information with all local media sources.
