
The Tangipahoa Parish School Board voted to approve the Strong Start salary supplement for employees at the close of the first nine weeks of this school year.
The Board voted 8-0 to approve the stipend, which will be paid through COVID relief funds, to eligible employees after the completion of the first nine weeks grading period.
Full time employees who work less than five hours per day will receive a $500 stipend. Full time employees who work more than five hours per day will receive a $1,000 stipend. Employees on any type of leave, such as workers compensation leave, leave with pay, or leave without pay, will not be eligible for the stipend, according to the policy the board adopted.
In addition to the salary stipend, the district will offer five additional days of sick leave to any vaccinated employee who tests positive for COVID-19 and is required to be quarantined during the first semester of this school year. The district will not count COVID sick leave days against other paid leave during this period.
