For the last several months, Officer Theresa Simon had been studying for the Slidell Police Department’s sergeant exam…
Last Thursday, Officer Simon passed her sergeant’s exam and was set to begin the promotional process. Becoming a
sergeant was one of Officer Simon’s big career goals. Tragically, while on-duty, Officer Simon suddenly passed away of a massive heart attack. Monday, Chief Randy Fandal granted Officer Simon her last wish, and posthumously promoted her to sergeant.
Sergeant Simon is the first female officer (at the Slidell Police Department) to pass the competitive test and to hold the rank
of sergeant. Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal says, “Theresa Simon was a leader at the Slidell Police Department and a true public servant. Her knowledge, professionalism and decade’s worth of law enforcement experience would have made her an outstanding first-line supervisor. It is my privilege and honor to promote her to sergeant. She will forever be remembered as Sergeant Theresa Simon.”
Services for Sgt. Simon are at noon on Thursday, June 17, at the Slidell City Auditorium. Visitation begins at 9 a.m.
