State Treasurer John Schroder announced the creation of a new state law requiring every state agency to craft a cybersecurity plan relative to cash management by the end of summer.
House Bill 128 was signed into law last week.
The bill, which was authored by state Rep. Jerome “Zee” Zeringue, requires state agencies to submit a cybersecurity plan and financial security procedures to the Cash Management Review Board within 90 days for review.
Treasurer Schroder said with the shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline and other attacks, we’ve seen how devastating cybersecurity threats can be. He added that we have measures in place already, but we can always improve on them.
