
On the May 21, detectives with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office Burglary Division began investigating a burglary that occurred on Haynes Road in Hammond.
During this investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect as Rory Brett Welda of Livingston. On May 25th, detectives were contacted by the victim who stated the suspects were parked at an apartment on Mallard Drive in Hammond. Detectives located Welda and took him into custody without incident.
Upon speaking with Welda, it was learned that Welda was stranded on Mallard Drive because the original victim Tytianna Sims of Hammond and her boyfriend, who was later identified as Tavi Roach of New Orleans, attacked Welda and his girlfriend before holding them at gunpoint and taking their cell phones along with Welda’s car keys.
On the 27th, detectives conducted a search warrant at the Sims residence located on Haynes Rd. As a result of the search warrant, Sims was arrested and faces multiple charges. Detectives are still attempting to locate Tavi Roach.
