Two local law enforcement professionals were appointed to the Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) by Gov. John Bel Edwards: Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard of Springfield and Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson.
The Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) is responsible for developing and evaluating the curriculum of mandatory basic training courses for municipal officers, deputy sheriffs, state police, wildlife agents and all other persons commissioned as peace officers, defined by state law.
Ard’s placement on the Council is a reappointment. Layrisson’s is a new assignment.
