SERVPRO of Greater Covington and Mandeville is hosting an SOS drive to raise donations for both the Blood Center and the Northshore Food Bank.
Each donor is encouraged to bring three items to help “Stock Our Shelves” at the Northshore Food Bank before the trying summer months increase demand.
The event is happening on May 21st at 68424 James Street in Mandeville from 9:30 am – 2:30 pm.
The Northshore Food Bank is currently in dire need of the following items: dry beans, corn muffin mix (Jiffy), canned tuna, canned fruit, and canned okra. The Northshore Food Bank is also asking for donations of toilet paper to assist families as well.
Community leaders will also be present to talk about emergency preparedness and fire safety practices. Clarence Powe from St. Tammany Parish Government’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness will be present from 9:40 am until 11:00 am to discuss hurricane preparedness. Jeremy Windom from Mandeville Fire Department will be present as well to discuss fire safety tips.
There will also be free pizza and raffle prizes for donors.
