United Way of Southeast Louisiana and 504HealthNet Thursday announced the launch of the first local Spanish and Vietnamese COVID-19 hotlines to reach underserved populations in the Greater New Orleans region and provide education on how, where and when residents can get COVID-19 vaccines.
The partners are encouraging residents, regardless of immigration status, to call for assistance to address the misinformation and myths about the pandemic and the COVID-19 vaccine, which have impacted public attitudes toward health care and trust in health care systems.
Both hotlines are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m; Spanish: 504.308.0292; Vietnamese: 504.321.1266.
The hotlines are staffed by trusted community advocates fluent in both English and their respective hotline language. Additionally, the partners are working together to develop communitywide vaccination events and collaborate with health care providers to relay the ongoing needs of residents.
English-speakers and individuals outside of Greater New Orleans are encouraged to call the Louisiana Department of Health’s COVID-19 vaccine hotline at 1-855-453-0774. For more information, visit 504HealthNet.org/news/covid-19-vaccine-advocacy.
