
Yesterday St. Tammany Fire District #1 responded to the report of a residential structure fire located at 2089 Lakeshore Dr., in Slidell.
Firefighters arrived on the scene in under three minutes to find an approximate 4,500 square foot two story home with heavy smoke and flames through the roof. Firefighters extinguished the fire and were able to bring the situation under control in just over forty-five minutes. Neighbors called 911 to report the fire. Firefighters could see the large plume of black smoke billowing into the sky while proceeding to the fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters evacuated the occupants from the home. One of the occupants sustained burns to the arm and face, while attempting to evacuate their dogs. Three dogs were evacuated to safety, but unfortunately one dog perished as a result of the fire.
The home sustained major fire damage and is unlivable.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
