Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller announced that Canadian National has scheduled maintenance work on several local railroad crossings, which will require one-day closures at each site as work is being completed.
Miller said the schedule calls for maintenance work to done Friday, March 26 at Maggio Road Crossing in Independence, Monday, March 29 at Black Cat Crossing in Independence, and Tuesday, March 30 at Velma Crossing in Velma. Individual crossings are expected to be closed during daylight hours starting at 7 a.m. each day, and travelers will have to detour around the crossing during the work period. All work will be completed on a weather-permitting basis, railroad officials said.
