Sheriff Randy Smith has named the 2020 St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Administrative Deputy of the Year – Deputy Thu Huynh-Yee.
Deputy Yee was hired in October 2011 as a Sales Tax Auditor for the Sales Tax Department. In 2020, she was assigned the responsibility of training a new auditor following the retirement of a field training officer. Dy. Huynh-Yee successfully trained two auditors in two years in addition to meeting the demands of now becoming the most experienced and seasoned full-time auditor in the Sales Tax Department this past year. Deputy Huynh-Yee is constantly called upon to review cases of other auditors, to provide input on statute changes and jurisprudence, to field questions from the Sales Tax Department processing staff and assist with special projects.
Sheriff Randy Smith said Deputy Huynh-Yee should be recognized for her incredible dedication to the success of this project, while actively training and continually mentoring new auditors while maintaining her regular duties as auditor.
