Last week Nathan Anding was sentenced to 12.5 years with the department of corrections as family members, friends, and fellow Louisiana State Troopers watched. Anding, of Holden, plead guilty to negligent homicide and many other charges associated with an incident on May 20, 2020, that killed a Louisiana State Trooper.
It began when Hammond Police attempted to make contact with the occupants of a grey Chevrolet located at the Rouses Market in Hammond. After the vehicle fled the parking lot, officers tried to initiate a traffic stop, and a pursuit began. The driver of the vehicle, Nathan Anding, refused to pull over as officers witnessed Anding toss items from the vehicle and commit several traffic violations. Louisiana State Police Troopers assisted other law enforcement officers in an attempt to stop Anding’s vehicle by placing spike strips across Wardline Road. Anding led officers to the area where troopers were stationed and caused a unit to strike Trooper Baker, who died from those injuries.
