On Wednesday, February 24, shortly after 2:00 pm, State Police Troop L began investigating a fatal crash on LA 436 east of LA 62 in Washington Parish.
The crash claimed the life of 67 YO Clayton L. Jenkins of Angie. Jenkins was operating a 1984 Honda ATV on private property on the side of LA 436. For reasons still under investigation, Jenkins entered LA 436 directly in front of an eastbound 2009 Chevrolet Traverse. The Traverse impacted Jenkins, who was not wearing a protective helmet and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Washington Parish Coroner’s Office and impairment is not suspected to be a causal factor in the crash.
Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind ATV operators about the importance of not riding on public roadways with off-road-only type vehicles.
