The City of New Orleans held a coronavirus news briefing Tuesday where the city announced that it’s COVID-19 percent positivity rate has not improved. The city’s director of communications, Beau Tidwell, said the city is still at a 10.4% positivity rate. Last week that rate prompted city leaders to enter into a modified phase one restriction plan. According to the city, it is averaging more than 200 positive cases a day. City leaders are encouraging people to get tested and are working on setting up more vaccine sites throughout the city. Some people that qualify in the Phase 1B tier have expressed concern over not being able to get their vaccines. Tidwell said rolling out the vaccines is a challenge. He said the public will be advised of the new vaccine sites by the end of the week.
