Yesterday, the Louisiana Department of Health reported 6,882 new #COVID19 cases. Yesterday’s update did NOT contain a backlog of cases. This was the highest number of daily cases reported to date in Louisiana that did not contain a backlog or two days of reporting. The previous highest number of cases reported was 6,754 new cases on December 30. 99% of the cases reported were community spread. Individuals between the ages of 18 and 29 (19%) and between the ages of 30 and 39 (15%) accounted for 34% of the cases. The 1,993 hospitalizations reported yesterday was the highest number of COVID-19 hospitalizations since the beginning of the pandemic. There were 46 deaths reported, bringing the current total death count to 7,681.
