Sheriff Randy Smith is proud to announce that the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has once again awarded the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, a government must publish an efficiently organized comprehensive annual financial report. This report must satisfy both generally-accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements. The Government Finance Officers Association is a major professional association servicing nearly 20,000 appointed and elected government officials and finance practitioners.
