The 2020 property tax bills are being sent out in Tangipahoa Parish.
Unlike previous years, the residents of Hammond and Ponchatoula will not receive separate bills for their City and Parish taxes. Both City and Parish taxes will be included on one bill which will be collected by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The cities of Hammond and Ponchatoula made an arrangement with the sheriff’s office to combine city property taxes, which the city normally sends under its own bill, with parish property taxes, which has previously come in its own bill. So when Hammond and Ponchatoula property owners receive their bills this week, it will appear high, but they should realize that it’s a combination of the city and parish tax bills which will be paid to the Sherriff’s office. The sheriff’s office will remit the city portion of the tax payment to the respective city on behalf of the property owner.
If you have any questions regarding tax payments, you can contact the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Any questions regarding your assessment can be directed to the Tangipahoa Parish Assessor’s Office.
