Earlier this week the Tangipahoa Parish School Board approved approximately $27 million in classroom/school facility projects, pending approval from the federal court. Described as the district’s “Phase 1 Projects,” the proposal includes purchasing the former school site on Yokum Road, as well as more than $20 million in construction and renovation work at some the parish’s highest-density schools. The proposal must go before U.S. District Court Judge Ivan Lemelle for final consideration before any work can begin.
Under the project, work would be done at Champ Cooper Elementary, Ponchatoula High School, D.C. Reeves Elementary, Hammond High Magnet School, Loranger High School and Kentwood High Magnet School.
