Due to the concern for public health and safety, the City of Slidell is canceling the Olde Towne Slidell Community Christmas Parade originally scheduled for Saturday, December 5, 2020. Slidell Mayor Greg Cromer said he knows a lot of people will be disappointed by the news but he said we want the community to be healthy, the economy to thrive, and for local health systems to be able to support citizens in need of care. He added that having a large public event with COVID infection rates continuing to rise in our community puts all of those goals at risk. Cromer reminded Slidell residents they can still enjoy numerous Christmas events in the community, including Christmas Under the Stars in Griffith Park, the new Christmas on Front light displays, and a revamped drive through light display at Slidell’s Bayou Christmas.
