Last night, the Mayor, City Council, and other city and parish officials were on hand at a meeting to hear concerns and questions about a proposed Medline Medical Distribution facility near the Hammond airport. Participants saw some details about the proposed site. Medline is trying to put this distribution center in Tangipahoa after getting tied up when they tried to enlarge their operation in St Tammany.
The concerns from those on hand were primarily about drainage and traffic and while the tone of those in attendance was mostly restrained and respectful, most of the comments seemed to question or even already be against the facility. Other questions included why the project was moving so quickly and, with a parish that has so much available land, why did the site have to be in Hammond?
