UPDATE: Jonathan Lee Richardson has turned himself into the Covington Police Department, in relation to the murder investigation. He is now in custody and will be charged with Second Degree Murder, and Possession of a firearm or carrying concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies.
On Friday at approximately 8:50 PM, the Covington Police Department responded to reports of shots being fired in the area of North Columbia Street and West 33rd Avenue. Upon officers’ arrival, evidence was located, and officers also discovered vehicles damaged in the shooting. While officers were on the scene of the shooting, there were no reports of anyone being injured.
Later in the night, it was discovered that a black male subject suffered a gunshot wound during the shooting. After the shooting, the victim went to his girlfriend’s house in Mandeville, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead as a result of the shooting in Covington.
The Covington Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division was able to develop a suspect in this shooting. The suspect’s name is Jonathan Lee Richardson, who is a resident of unincorporated Covington, now has warrants for Second Degree Murder.
