Hammond Mayor Pete Panepinto says with Halloween quickly approaching, he wants to offer some help on how to safely enjoy the day. He recommends visiting the Make It Safe Halloween website at https://www.halloween2020.org/ for creative and fun ideas, such as candy chutes, drive-by candy tosses and pet parades. Trick or treating hours, however you choose to celebrate, will be on Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Some of the Halloween safety tips include: stay home if you are sick, wear a face mask, wash hands often, social distance, use duct tape to mark 6-foot lines in front of your home, move indoor activities to outdoors, use a distribution table to limit contact and add distance between yourself and trick-or-treaters, carry a flashlight, and wear reflective clothing.
