St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper announced that a major bridge replacement project on Black River Drive in Black River Estates subdivision in the Madisonville area will begin November 2. This $759,582 investment is expected to be complete in May of 2021. Cooper said this effort enhances not only the safety of the bridge, it also extends its lifespan, and as a result improves travel for citizens. Residents who live North of the Bridge on Black River Drive and visitors to Black River Estates who wish to get to this area, should plan to use an alternate route. Access through Black River Drive from Highway 22, beginning November 2, 2020 will be open only to residents who live South of the Bridge. Brown Industrial is the contractor for this project.
