Louisiana lawmakers say the focus for their special session starting today centers on the coronavirus pandemic and Hurricane Laura recovery, but the session agenda is so broadly written that many bills on a long list of topics could be filed. The session begins at 6 p.m. and can last up to 30 days. Lawmakers called themselves into session, so Gov. Edwards had no say in the agenda. One of the main debates will involve whether to curb Edwards’ emergency authority in the pandemic.
