A 17-year-old has turned himself in to Amite Police in connection with the shooting death of a 22-year-old Arcola man Monday night. Amite Police Chief Jerry Trabona said the juvenile was accompanied by a family member and turned himself in to authorities yesterday. He has been charged with manslaughter and a juvenile in possession of a weapon. There was a Monday evening shooting in the 400 block of 3rd Street. Trabona said 22 YO Arkejen Freeman was shot once in the torso with a 9-millimeter weapon. He died later that evening at Hood Memorial Hospital. The juvenile was transported from Amite Police to the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center in Robert.
