Gov. Edwards announced in a news conference yesterday that the state will be moving into Phase III today at which time he will provide specifics on Phase III restrictions. He called it the hardest decision made thus far based on all the activities going on in the state in reference to schools and colleges reopening, Hurricane Laura and the Labor Day weekend, saying they are going to be anxious to get that data in and see what it does. Edwards reminded everyone that moving to the next phase does not mean that everything is okay and that we are still number one in the country in cases per capita. He further stated that the state’s face mask mandate will remain in place and urged everyone to continue to social distance, stay home when ill, wash hands and reduce activities.
