St. Tammany Parish schools are slowly welcoming students back for in-person instruction. School officials said they will use this first week to assess students and teach them about the new safety protocols in place. Students will begin their new schedules next week. Under the district’s reopening plan, pre-K through fifth grade will return for in-person instruction full time, while sixth grade and up will do a mix of in-person and at-home learning. Families also had an all-virtual option, which almost 5,000 students signed up for. The district has partnered with Ochsner Health to evaluate students who are showing symptoms of coronavirus.
