On Tuesday, September 8, shortly after 5:00 pm, Troopers from State Police Troop L responded to a fatal crash on I-12 eastbound, just east of LA 434 in St. Tammany. The crash claimed the life of 19-year-old Mckenzie Ticker of Chalmette. The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that Ticker was driving a 2008 Hyundai Tiburon west on I-12. For reasons still under investigation, she traveled across the grassy median and under the cable median barrier. The Hyundai then entered the eastbound lanes of I-12 and impacted a 2012 Kenworth 18-wheeler. Ticker died on scene as a result of injuries sustained during the crash. She was properly restrained and impairment is not suspected to be a factor. As part of the ongoing investigation, a blood sample was taken from Ticker for scientific analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
