TPSS says beginning Tuesday students in Grades 7 and 8 will begin coming back into the school buildings on a modified schedule.
On Tuesday, Sept. 8, and Wednesday, Sept. 9, students whose last name begins with the letters A-K (Group A) will attend school on campus. On Thursday, Sept. 10, and Friday, Sept. 11, students whose last name begins with the letters L-Z (Group B) will attend school on campus. Each week thereafter, Group A will attend Monday/Tuesday on campus and Group B will attend Thursday/Friday on campus in grades 7 and 8, until the governor moves the state to phase three of reopening.
Once phase 3 of reopening is reached students in grades 7 and 8 will go to school on campus every single day, and high school students will begin their re-entry on the school campus through a hybrid model of alternating in-person and virtual learning throughout the week. The school system anticipates that the governor will move us to phase three this month.
Students in grades 7-12 who want to remain full virtual must submit their intent by September 11. If students are not at school during the reopening phase back and have not submitted their intent for full virtual to continue by September 11, they will be counted absent and all truancy regulations will apply.
