All Tangipahoa Parish public schools and School System offices will resume normal operations today. Due to the landfall of the hurricane and its movement toward North Louisiana, Tangipahoa Parish School Superintendent Melissa Stilley said the district offices will be able to reopen Friday and schools will hold classes as usual. Stilley said that while students in grades 7-12 will be full virtual, Pre-K through 6th Grade will return to class in the school buildings as scheduled on Friday. Stilley said that while it would have been easy to just regroup next week, the reason the district will resume classes on Friday is to keep students from having to make up more instructional time due to the storms. Distribution of Chromebooks and mobile hot spots for K-6 students choosing full virtual will be scheduled early next week on a school-by-school basis and communicated accordingly, Stilley said. If families have questions about the distribution schedule, they should contact their child’s school directly. For more information, stay tuned to the tangischools.org.
