Louisiana has seen another significant jump in cases of MIS-C, which is a potentially deadly inflammatory disease thought to be tied to COVID-19 in children. It causes inflammation in several major organs, including the heart. The state health department now says it has diagnosed a running total of 44 cases, up from the last reported number of 30. The number of cases requiring hospitalization remains at six. Overall, three children have died from MIS-C.
