The Hammond Police Department responded to a call of shots fired on August 3, at approximately 5:26 pm, on the corner of South Cypress Street and East Coleman Avenue. HPD officers were on scene in less than a minute and were able to get one subject in custody. No one was struck by the gunfire and no injuries were reported. HPD detectives are actively interviewing other suspects and witnesses at this time.
